SCHOOL BOARD: CALLING FOR BOARD NOMINATIONS (VACANCY)

In 2018 we established our School Board consisting of four parent representatives and 3 staff members.  The vacancy has been created as Mrs Angela Whisson (Board Chair) has completed her three-year tenure. Consequently, we are seeking to fill this position as soon as possible. The School Board of a public school works with the school to achieve the best outcomes for students. Their functions are covered by legislation. The elected members include parents, staff, and community members. School Boards make an important contribution towards supporting public education. The School Board meets a minimum of once per term. It is most important that Board members have a “Big Picture” understanding of the role of the School Board and how this differs to the P&C.

Any parent/community member who is interested in being part of the Board are asked to fill out the attached nomination form and return it to me in an envelope marked “Private & Confidential”.  Nominations will close by 12 noon on Friday 5^th March.  If you are going to nominate someone, please check with them prior to nomination.  If we have more than one nomination the school community will then have to conduct a vote to fill positions requiring each candidate to outline their reasons as to why they want to be on the School Board.
