Open Night22 Sep 2020

On Tuesday 22nd September, Wellard PS will be conducting an Open Night where parents are able to visit their child’s classroom and participate in a learning journey guided by their child. Classrooms will be open between 4.00 – 6.00pm. Please note there will not be sufficient time for you to organise a meeting with your child’s teacher during Open Night. This is to be arranged for another time. We do hope that parents (particularly Dads) take up this opportunity to visit Wellard PS.

Unfortunately, during this evening, we are all going to have to adhere to the Covid-19 restrictions. Everyone will be required to monitor social distancing as well as apply hand sanitiser before entering every room. Families are asked to leave the school grounds immediately after they have participated in their child’s learning journey.

No students are permitted to play on any of the playground equipment.

JUNIOR & SENIOR HOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVALS

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our Junior & Senior House Athletics Carnivals takes place on Thursday 17th of September (Junior Yr 1 - 3) and Friday the 18th of September (Senior – Yr 4 - 6). We ask that students arrive at their classroom no later than 8.30am to ensure that they can be accounted for and to be present for the opening march which will commence at 8:45am.

As there are many events to get through, the throws, jumps, 400m and 800m events will be held earlier in the week on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September. Please see the schedules on the following pages.

On all school days where events are to be held, all students will be required to wear:

  • a t-shirt in their house colour
  • appropriate black shorts or skirt (black leggings, must be worn underneath a skirt or shorts)
  • a clearly labelled black Wellard bucket hat
  • closed in shoes.

We strongly recommend that students should come to school with sunscreen already applied. Students will have access to sunscreen in their house bay for reapplication throughout the day.

Students will need to bring:

  • a water bottle
  • recess (junior carnival no recess break, senior carnival 10:55 – 11:15)
  • and lunch (12:40 – 1:20 for both junior and senior carnivals)

The school canteen will not be open on the days of the carnival, however the P & C will be holding a sausage sizzle on the Thursday and Friday. Please see the P&C Facebook page for details and updates about the sausage sizzle.

All events will be placed on the noticeboard outside the office as well as on Connect, please refer to these when finding out what event your child is in.

We look forward to seeing you there supporting your child and their peers at our second annual House Athletics Carnival.

Kind regards,

Matthew Paparone & Rochelle Protzman
