Newsletter 18, Term 4, Week 6, 15 November 2022

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

It is difficult to believe that we are half way through the term with only five weeks remaining. Best wishes to our Year 6 students who are coming to the end of their time at Wellard PS. They certainly have some exciting activities ahead of them.

You may have noticed we have had quite a bit of activity on the western side of the school. A fence has been erected around this area so that the ground works can commence. I am hopeful by the beginning of next year that we will have a new 56 bay car park and an 11 bay Kiss and Drive. This project has been specifically designed to reduce the congestion at pick up and drop off times through the main car park.

Parents and carers are reminded that parking on the verge and parking within 9 metres of a corner is not permitted. City Assist have been in attendance a few times recently administering fines to those vehicles parking illegally. Citrine Chase is one of the roads where parents are parking on the verge or too close to the corner.

IF YOU ARE LEAVING

We are currently planning for 2023 and would like for parents to contact us if they are leaving. This is also the case if you are going on holidays and not returning for the first day of the school year. This can be done by contacting the front office.

P&C MEETING

Our next P&C Meeting will be conducted in the Staff Room at 1.40pm on Monday 21st November. This is being held just prior to pick up time to try and attract more parents to meetings. Come along and have a coffee, hope to see you there.

P&C SCHOOL RUN4FUN

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the RUN4FUN colour explosion conducted last Friday afternoon on our oval. It was an outstanding success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. Thank you to all members of the P&C for organising this event and to all the parents who helped out on the day. No doubt the P&C will inform us of how much they have raised in due course. Well done everyone.

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY (FRIDAY 25th NOVEMBER WEEK 7)

Parents and carers are reminded that we have a School Development Day on Friday 25th November. Students DO NOT attend on this day as staff will be planning for 2023.

KINDERGARTEN COME AND TRY DAY

On Friday 25th November our Kindergarten staff will be providing an opportunity for our Kindergarten students and parents of 2023 to visit the early childhood area. An email was sent to all respective parents last Friday explaining the organisational details. Please contact the school if you have any queries.

INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Interschool Athletics Carnival conducted recently. From all reports, students conducted themselves with a high level of sportsmanship and did their very best in representing our school. Special thanks to Mr Paparone and Mr McIntyre for preparing our students for this event and to Mrs Protzman for helping out on the day.

ASSEMBLY

The next assembly will be conducted by Miss Magistro’s Year 3 class (Rm 12) on Friday 18th November in our Assembly Area commencing at 8.50am. The following assembly will be presented by Mrs Neidig’s class on Friday 14th November.

Kind regards

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UPDATE

The Interschool Carnival was completed over two days on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4. All events went well, with the selected students giving their personal best in all activities they were involved in. A big thank you goes out to all staff, students, parents and community members who supported this event; with special thanks going to Mr Brenton Simmons and Mrs Rochelle Protzman, who gave up their time to assist the students across the two days.

There were a lot of great performances across the individual events, and Wellard Primary School finished fourth overall, which is our highest ever finish. Well done to all students who participated in the events.

Special congratulations to Isatu and Isabella. Isatu was runner up in the Year 6 girls division, and Isabella was runner up in the Year 5 girls division.

Kind regards,

David McIntyre and Matthew Paparone.

P&C NEWS

Wow! What a great event the colour run was.

As well as fundraising for our school, we saw so many beautiful smiles, which is priceless.

A big thank you to Tamara Hutt for the coordination of this event, and thank you to everyone for helping make the event a smooth and fun process.

Our next P&C meeting is Monday 21st November at 1.45pm in the staff room, as always everyone is welcome to attend.

Many thanks

Kelly.
