Newsletter 10 Term 3, Week 10, 23rd September 2020
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Thank you to all staff, students and parents for your cooperation and flexibility during a very different Term Three. Unfortunately, we have not been able to participate in a number of events that we normally would (WAGSMS, Book Parade etc.) due to COVID-19. However, we did enjoy our Conga Dance and Athletics Carnivals. Let’s hope moving forward that we are able to bring our school community together more often.
It is hard to believe that we will be commencing Term 4 in a couple of weeks, this being the final term for our Year 6 students at Wellard Primary School. I would like to wish these students all the best and hope they continue to work hard throughout the term.
BICYCLES AND SCOOTERS
Over the last week we have had a bicycle and scooter stolen from the bike racks. Whilst we make every effort to ensure the safety of all property belonging to students we cannot guarantee this. Parents are asked to provide their child with a lock so their bike or scooter cannot be removed from the bike rack area.
OPEN NIGHT
Thank you to everyone who attended our Open Night conducted on Tuesday evening. The night was quite unique as it was the first time that parents were able to enter their child’s class since March of this year. Feedback from parents has been very positive and I know students were very excited about showing the wonderful work they have been doing during the term. It was most pleasing to see so many parents come along and view their children’s work. A big thank you to staff (including non-teaching staff) who went to considerable lengths in preparing their classrooms. I hope that parents enjoyed the experience and now have a more informed understanding of the learning activities their child has been involved in.
HOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVALS
Congratulations to all students on the level of sportsmanship they displayed throughout the days and the way they conducted themselves in their bay. At last we had great weather for all three days!! Well done to Green House and to the champions and runners up for each of the age groups.
Special thanks to those parents and relatives for your support in cheering on all students. Another huge thank you to the P&C and their helpers who organised the Sausage Sizzles on both days. Well done Mr Paparone and Mrs Protzman on organising outstanding carnivals. I would also like to thank and acknowledge the efforts of staff over the last term in preparing students for their week of athletics.
END OF TERM DATES
Please note that students finish this term as of Friday 25th September
NO SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY
Please note that students return to school on Monday 12th October. There is no School Development Day on the first day back so students need to come to school.
CANTEEN
I am pleased to announce that Mrs Linda Horsten has been appointed as the Canteen Supervisor beginning next term. Welcome Mrs Horsten.
Our school canteen will be opening in Week 2 of Term 4. At the start of Term 4, a connect notice will be sent to all parents and carers with a menu and details on how to register for online ordering and payment. The canteen will be opening on the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as of Week 2.
SCREAM FOR YOUR TEAM
On Friday 25th September students are encouraged to wear their favourite team’s colours for a gold coin donation. This is a P&C fundraising event.
2020 SCHOOL PHOTOS
Our school photo day is coming. All students should have brought home their photo envelope, if you have not received yours, please do not hesitate to contact the office. These are to be returned to the photographer on your child’s photo day, please do not submit to the school office.
A schedule has been provided to your class teacher.
