FROM THE PRINCIPAL

It is hard to believe that we are almost half way through Term 4 with the end of the year fast approaching!!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Multicultural Morning Tea conducted on Monday of last week. It was great to see many students come to school dressed in their cultural finery. Thank you to those students who addressed the assembly about Diwali and to those who performed for us. Special thanks to Navjot Kasturi (and her helpers) for supplying the tea and supplying every student and staff member with a clay diya, and to Mrs Kelly Mattravers for organising the performer and having input into this event. I hope other community members will take up the opportunity in 2023 to celebrate their culture with us through a performance or display. Thanks everyone.

BUSHFIRE DRILL

Last week the school conducted a Bushfire Drill in preparation for the bushfire season. In conjunction with this sent home information to parents yesterday about our plan and the actions we intend to take should the school be threatened by bushfire. I ask that you read this carefully and place the information in a convenient location for future reference. You will also be able to access this information through our school website. I am pleased to report that our drill went very smoothly. We will be conducting another drill in a few weeks time.

IF YOU ARE LEAVING

We are currently planning for 2023 and would like for parents to contact us if they are leaving. This is also the case if you are going on holidays and not returning for the first day of the school year. This can be done by contacting the front office.

P&C MEETING

Our next P&C Meeting will be conducted in the Staff Room at 1.40pm on Monday 21st November. This is being held just prior to pick up time to try and attract more parents to meetings. Come along and have a coffee, hope to see you there.

P&C COLOUR RUN

Parents and carers are reminded that our Colour Run will be conducted on the afternoon of Friday 11th November. Please refer to information sent home via Connect in relation to this event.

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY (FRIDAY 25th NOVEMBER WEEK 7)

Parents and carers are reminded that we have a School Development Day on Friday 25th November. Students DO NOT attend on this day as staff will be planning for 2023.

KINDERGARTEN COME AND TRY DAY

On Friday 25th November our Kindergarten staff will be providing an opportunity for our Kindergarten students and parents of 2023 to visit the early childhood area. An email was sent to all respective parents last Friday explaining the organisational details. Please contact the school if you have any queries.

INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

This will be conducted on Thursday 3rd November and Friday 4th November at Wellard Oval on Abingdon Crescent, Wellard. All the best and good luck to those students who will be participating.

ASSEMBLY

The next assembly will be conducted by EC 4, 6 and 8 this Friday at 8.50am in the undercover area.  Miss Kearney’s Year 3 class (Rm 13) will conduct their assembly the following week, Friday 11th November.

Kind regards

Geoff Miller

Principal

INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The KSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival will take place over two days this week; on Thursday, November 3 (jumps, throws and long distance running events) and Friday, November 4.   (Interschool Carnival). We wish the best of luck to all of our students who are representing the school. We hope to see as many parents supporting them as possible.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UPDATE

Our House Carnival was completed on Wednesday, October 12 which - along with the K/PP Carnival, Jumps, Throws and Long Distance running events held last term – completed the Athletics Carnival program for this year. All events went well, due to the wonderful support of parents and staff, and the excellent behaviour of the students themselves.

A big thank you goes out to all staff, students, parents and community members who supported this event. Green won the House Carnival this year with a solid overall effort. There were a lot of great performances across the individual events, but we were most pleased to see every student give their personal best for both themselves and their Houses. Well done to all students who participated in the events. A full list of individual champions and runners up from the House Carnival are below.

Kind regards,

David McIntyre and Matthew Paparone.
